Backups make copies of your computer system's data to either tape or disk media, which are used to restore or recover lost data. File Level Backup
File Level Backup is the most commonly used method of basic backup software. File Level Backup software crawls the file system and makes a copy of each file and folder to a different destination. There are drawbacks to File Level Backup. If a large file is changed or modified between backup intervals, the entire file will be backed up again the next time it is noticed. This inflates the amount of storage needed to back up your entire file system.
Image Based Backup
Image Based Backups are full, hard drive images, comprising the block-by-block contents of a hard drive. In the event of a data disaster, an entire, company-wide data set is preserved, allowing a switch to new hardware and swift restore of all information. While Imaged Based Backups require larger storage capacity and the use of bandwidth to move these larger files to the cloud, if required, it also provides the most complete backup and the fastest restore.
